Vittoria Fontana

Happy birthday to Italy’s sprint fighter Vittoria Fontana, who is delivering one of the comeback stories of the Italian season. After injury cut short her World Championships in Tokyo last September, Vittoria has spent this June simply winning: first the 200m in Mondovì, then a dominant 100m at the TrackFam Meeting in Meda — back-to-back victories that have Italian media talking about her “momento magico” and the azzurra vest again.

The career she’s fighting back toward speaks for itself: European U20 100m champion, Tokyo Olympian, World Relays champion with Italy’s 4×100, top-eight at the World Championships, World University Games 200m gold, and a 22.79 personal best that ranks her among Europe’s fastest. Sprinting runs in the Fontana blood — her father and brother both raced — and off the track this Carabinieri athlete studies law and devours crime novels.
