Rosina Schneider
Happy birthday to Germany’s sprint hurdler Rosina Schneider, a double European champion who currently leads her country’s rankings.
At the European U20 Championships in Jerusalem, Rosina arrived with a personal best of 13.38, ran 13.13 in the heats, and then won the final in **13.06 — a championship record**. Two days later she won a second gold in the 4x100m. Her own description of it was four words long: the greatest success of my life.
She has won a German title in every year since. The German U20 100m. The German U20 100m hurdles, plus the U20 indoor 60m hurdles and 200m in the same winter. The **senior German Indoor Championship over 60m hurdles**. Then the German U23 100m hurdles title, defended again this July in Bochum-Wattenscheid in 12.85. Five straight years of national championships across three age categories.
This is the year the senior level opened up. On 19 June at Dessau-Roßlau she ran **12.77**, taking a tenth off a mark she had hit three separate times, and she said afterwards that words failed her and she had not even hit the first two hurdles well. That time **leads the German rankings for 2026**, and on 25 July she took the silver medal at the German Championships in 12.81. She has raced the European Championships in Rome and reached the semi-finals at the European Indoor Championships in Apeldoorn.
The journey there is genuinely funny in places. She went from 14.69 to 13.06 in under two years, a leap she has called a Quantensprung and which surprised her more than anyone. As a PUMA athlete she has been sent to Florida to train with Christian Taylor, the two-time Olympic triple jump champion, and to Jamaica to train with Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce’s group, from which she came home with one observation: they are not fast for no reason, they really do train 6-8
She still competes for TV Sulz, the club in her home town, under Cathleen Tschirch, and studies sports science at the University of Stuttgart.
