Pippi Lotta Enok

Happy birthday to Estonia’s Pippi Lotta Enok, who holds her country’s records in both combined events and was voted Estonia’s sportswoman of the year.

In June last year, at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, Pippi Lotta scored **6,285 points in the heptathlon** — an Estonian national record, breaking a mark that had stood since 2017 — and won the national title of American college athletics doing it. Four months earlier she had scored **4,593 in the indoor pentathlon** at the SEC Championships, another Estonian record, and a score that ranked her eighth in the world and sixth in Europe for the season. In November, Estonia named her its **Female Athlete of the Year**.

She has been collecting things for a while. **Two NCAA titles** in the outdoor heptathlon, the first of them Oklahoma’s first ever. Two NCAA indoor pentathlon bronzes. **Silver at the World U20 Championships. Bronze at the European U23 Championships.** Two Estonian national heptathlon titles. And in September she made her senior global debut at the World Championships in Tokyo, the first Estonian woman in that event at a Worlds in seven years.

Her post the day she won her second NCAA title is the one worth keeping: last one, best one, dreams really do come true — not just through accolades or records, but through the people we meet, the lessons we learn, and the person we become.

Since October she has been coached by **Erki Nool**, Estonia’s Olympic decathlon champion from Sydney, training alongside Saga Vanninen, the Finnish record holder. Her own reaction to the arrangement: how many times in life do such opportunities arise? She came up in Jõhvi in Ida-Virumaa, races for KJK Visa, and finished a psychology and communication degree at Oklahoma last year.
