Marina Andreea Baboi

Happy birthday to the one and only Marina Baboi, Romania’s charismatic diva of track and field. In our opinion, she’s the all-time Queen of Romanian sprints, and here’s our case: She is top 10 all-time in the 100 and 200, and top-5 all time in the 60. But here’s the rub: with the exception of young superstar Maria Mihalache (@mariiiiaa.m), almost everyone above Marina on the all-time lists are from the Cold War era of eyebrow-raising times. But Marina has always been the real deal, and has to a be huge inspiration not only for Mihalache, but the rest of the bubbling cauldron of young Romanian sprint talent — Dogan, Niculae, Punga, all of ’em.
