Marilyn Alabiso

LEGENDS ONLY: Happy birthday to Belgium’s Marilyn Alabiso, a national champion sprinter with personal bests across the 100m, 200m, and both relay legs.

Marilyn has built her career around versatility: an 11.83 in the 100m, a 24.71 in the 200m short track, and relay bests of 46.14 in the 4x100m and 1:38.53 in the 4x200m, the kind of range that comes from years of being the sprinter a relay squad can plug in anywhere. She’s a Belgian national champion, and off the track she works as an architectural engineer — a genuine second career built alongside a competitive one, which is its own kind of demanding. Split loyalties aside, she’s Belgian/Sicilian, and by her own account a committed dog and car lover.

Thirty-two is squarely inside a sprinter’s competitive prime, not past it, and Marilyn’s national title and multi-event range say she’s still very much a factor on the Belgian circuit.
