Happy birthday to Montenegro’s Marija Bogavac, the Montenegrin national record holder in the javelin and currently ranked #114 in the world.

Marija reset that record this March, sending the javelin out to 56.32m — the farthest any Montenegrin woman has ever thrown it, and a mark still only months old. Three national titles sit behind it, and her range in the circle runs well past the javelin: a 44.94m discus best and an 11.86m shot put from her years competing in the United States, where she came through both the University of Virginia and Miami University. Throwers never get the column inches the sprinters do, which is a shame, because a national record costs exactly the same at either end of the stadium.
