LEGENDS ONLY: Happy birthday to Czechia’s Kimberly Ficenec, four-time Czech national outdoor champion in the 800m and one of the strongest middle-distance runners her country has produced.
In the 2025 indoor season, the Czech Indoor Gala — a World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold meeting — put Kimberly on a start list alongside Alica Schmidt, Paris Olympic silver medalist Tsige Duguma, and European Championships silver medalist Gabriela Gajanova. You don’t find yourself in that field by accident.

She came back in February 2026 and set a new indoor short-track personal best of 2:01.93, building on an outdoor personal best of 2:00.68 she ran in Zlín in 2024. That outdoor mark is a sub-two-minute performance, and it currently places her 83rd in the world in the women’s 800m — inside the top 100 on the planet in one of the deepest and most competitive global events in all of track and field.

Four Czech outdoor national titles. Three indoor national crowns. An indoor PB set this year. A world ranking that reflects exactly the level she’s performing at. The 800m tends to peak in the late 20s and early 30s, and Kimberly’s results show a career that is right on schedule — not winding down, but building.
