Izzy Goudros

Happy birthday to Canada’s Izzy Goudros, who spent her first season out of college turning seven events into one and winning a national title with it.

In June at the Canadian Championships in Ottawa, Izzy won the long jump with 6.52m, taking it on her fifth attempt. Three days ago she was named to Canada’s team for the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in the same event. That is a fairly remarkable first year as a professional for somebody who, twelve months earlier, was a heptathlete.

And what a heptathlete. At the NCAA Championships in Eugene last June she finished seventh with 5,853 points, an Ivy League record, and set the Harvard long jump school record inside the competition on her way there. She holds the Ivy League pentathlon record too, at 4,313 points. She was First Team All-America indoors and out, USTFCCCA Northeast Field Athlete of the Year, and Ivy League Most Outstanding Women’s Track Athlete. In August 2025 she won the heptathlon at the Junior Pan American Games in Asunción with 5,561 points, sealing it by winning the 800m, on Canada’s first ever Junior Pan Am athletics team.

Her post from the end of that NCAA season was a love note to her final meet in the Harvard singlet, and to the heptathlon that taught her it isn’t over until it’s over. Then she went and proved the point by taking the one event she liked best and winning her country’s championship in it.

She is from Toronto, came through Leaside, and is coached by George Goudros.
