Elena Irbetti

Happy birthday to Italian middle-distance star Elena Irbetti, who has already assembled an impressive history for an athlete still in her teens. Elena won the Italian U18 800m title in 2024, reached the European U18 semifinals and then lowered her personal best all the way to 2:05.13 last season. She has remained among Italy’s strongest young two-lap runners in 2026, taking bronze at the Italian U20 indoor championships and running 2:07.31 during the winter. The 800m demands speed, endurance, tactical judgment and the willingness to hurt for longer than any sprinter would consider reasonable. Elena has already demonstrated all four.
