Happy birthday to Spanish heptathlon ace Carmen Ramos Vellón, who celebrated birthday month in the only way a true combined-events person would: by doing seven completely different things in two days. At the Arona Combined Events Meeting earlier this month, Carmen completed another full heptathlon for 5,383 points, including a 39.77m javelin and a strong 2:17.92 finish in the 800m. Former Spanish record holder, multiple national champion, chemistry brain, and still competing at a level where most of us would need a nap after event two.
