Allina Polyakova
Happy birthday to Russia’s Alina Polyakova, an 800m runner who was setting fast times before most of her competitors had finished growing.
As a 16-year-old, Alina ran 2:07.52 for 800m in Moscow — a genuinely quick time for that age in the event, and the kind of early mark that explains how she went on to collect Russian national titles at U18, U20, and U23 level across her career. Her competitive road has run through Moscow, Safonovo, and Smolensk, a stretch of Russian middle-distance racing that’s produced a deep and genuine résumé of age-group titles well before she reached full senior competition.
