Minchaya Lethaisong

Happy birthday to Thailand’s Dream Minchaya, a former national-team heptathlete who took the whole of that toughness with her when she stepped off the track.

Seven events. Hurdles, high jump, shot, 200m, long jump, javelin, and then 800m at the end when there is nothing left. Dream did that for Thailand and won the national heptathlon title twice, which is a thing almost nobody in her current world has ever done, and Siam Kila put it best when they covered her: from the running track to the runway.

She is Miss Universe Ang Thong 2025, and she carried that provincial crown all the way to the Miss Universe Thailand national final in Bangkok, one of 77. She is Miss Grand Nakhon Si Thammarat 2024, and she was third runner-up at the inaugural Quick Zabb Idol out of more than a hundred applicants. Different arena, same job: prepare for months, deliver in minutes, in front of everybody.

Here is a thing worth knowing about her. Dream was born on a Friday, and in Thai tradition every day of the week has its colour. Friday’s is สีฟ้า, sky blue, the colour of charm and grace. A heptathlete who became a queen was assigned that one at birth.
