Naomily Oeslick

Happy birthday to France’s sprinter Naomily Oeslick, who has taken a full second off her 100m in four seasons and is still going.

Look at the line: 12.28, then 12.39, then 12.01, then 11.62, and this year 11.41 with the wind behind her and 11.51 with it legal. Sprinters do not usually improve like that. They chip. Naomily has been carving.

2026 gave her the medal to go with it. At the French U23 Championships at Charléty in July she took silver over 100m, winning her heat and her semi before the final. A week later she was at the French Elite Championships in Albi, reaching the 100m semi-final against the best senior sprinters in the country, at 20. She also went to Belgium in June and ran 23.66 over 200m, another personal best. And last week she was named on a French 4x100m squad at the Athletissima Diamond League in Lausanne, which is not a call-up many 20-year-olds get.

She came up through athletics in the Landes in south-west France, and she races now for EA Cergy-Pontoise under Sanounou Traoré and Matthieu Boissy.
