Happy monumental birthday to Poland’s horizontal jumper Lena Wróbel, who has quietly turned herself into something more interesting than a specialist.

Lena’s long jump best of 5.93m came in Łódź, and she backs it up in the triple jump, where her bio has her out past twelve metres. Two horizontal jumps at once is a genuinely difficult ask. They share a runway and a takeoff foot and almost nothing else, because the long jump wants everything spent in a single explosion and the triple jump wants that same power rationed across three, with the second phase punishing anyone who gets greedy on the first.

Then there is the detail that gives the whole thing away. Late in September 2025, months after the jumps season had properly closed, she went out and cleared a high jump personal best of 1.51m. That is not a specialist. That is an athlete who likes jumping over and across things and has not yet decided to stop at two.

She trains at MKS Aleksandrów, and her own account carries three words that read like a training philosophy: patience, and trust the process. Coming from an eighteen-year-old that is unusually good advice, and the results suggest she means it.

Eighteen is the threshold where a jumper’s strength work starts genuinely paying, where the runway gets faster because the athlete on it is stronger. Lena arrives at it with two events already working and a third one raising its hand.
