Happy birthday to Argentina’s Milagros D’Amico, marking the end of a truly spectacular U18 career for possibly the most recognizable young track athlete in South America. Not that the gold medals are going to stop, because they won’t; Mili entered her first U20 meet at 13, and took gold in the 100m. If you were watching the U20 nationals in May, as we were, and someone asked you “hey, who’s THAT?”, you wouldn’t even need to look up — you could just say “it’s D’Amico” and you’d be right. Even at U20 meets with quality competition, she just has a different aura & is going to be very competitive at every level – sprints or long jumping or whatever else she tries. It’s gonna be fun as hell watching her vs all the rest of the huge amount of South American talent, to watch her step up and challenge the Spanish girls for Ibero dominance, etc. But for now, the U18 division can have a sigh of relief, because the bogeywoman is gone.:) Feliz cumpleaños, Mili! 🎂🎁🎉🫶🫶
