Hannah Kate Falvey

Happy birthday to Ireland’s sprinter Hannah Kate Falvey, who runs for Belgooly AC and has been putting her name into Cork record books since she was a child.

Hannah has run 24.44 for 200m indoors at Sheffield and 7.60 for 60m at Athlone, and in May 2025 she was part of a 4x100m squad that went 45.92 at Santry. This July she was on the start list for the U23 200m at the national championships in Tullamore, in a field good enough that the local preview was promising fireworks before anybody had set a block.

The detail we like best is older. Her Munster U17 indoor 200m record took down a mark that had stood since 2008. She was not yet two years old when it was set. Before the sprints took over she was a combined-events athlete, Munster and national champion across U13, U14 and U15, and that grounding still shows: she has raced everything from 60m to 800m and long jumped as well.

She is coached by Colette Kelly and Eugene McVeigh, trains three days a week, lives in Blarney, and says plainly that the aim is an Irish vest at the Olympics.
