Merle Weber

Happy birthday to German combined-events star Merle Weber, who has made an immediate impact during her first collegiate season at Sacramento State. Merle scored a career-best 3,684 points for second in the Big Sky indoor pentathlon, then totaled 4,875 for bronze in the conference heptathlon outdoors. She also lowered her hurdles bests and produced the top javelin throw of the Big Sky competition. New country, new university, seven events and two conference medals. That is an exceptionally productive freshman year.
