Happy birthday to German pole-vault star Lotte Gretzler, who is producing a genuine breakthrough season in 2026. Lotte opened the year by clearing 4.12m indoors, already a significant step forward, and then raised her personal best again to 4.22m outdoors in May. That performance moved her into serious international U20 territory and followed an eighth-place finish at last summer’s European U20 Championships. Pole vault improvement is rarely simple or linear. Every additional centimeter requires faster approaches, stronger takeoffs, greater confidence and the courage to trust a bending pole several metres above the ground. Lotte is clearly putting all of those pieces together.
