Aksana Gataullina

LEGENDS ONLY: Happy birthday to Russian pole-vault star Aksana Gataullina, one of the finest vaulters of her generation. Aksana owns a world-class personal best of 4.70m and a résumé that includes a European U20 medal, Russian Cup success and the U18 national record.

Her 2026 season has included a 4.30m clearance for third in Saint Petersburg, another reminder of the level she has maintained in one of athletics’ most technical events. Pole vault asks an athlete to sprint fearlessly toward a rigid box, transfer all that speed into a bending pole and trust the process several metres above the ground. Aksana has been doing it at an elite level for years, and her best remains a height reached by very few women in the world.
