Happy birthday to Serbia’s Angelina Topić, the 2025 World Championships bronze medalist, silver medalist at the 2026 World Indoor Championships in Torun, and the first Serbian woman in history to clear two meters in the high jump.

That last one deserves a moment. In February 2026, at an indoor meeting in Banská Bystrica, Topić went over the bar at 2.00m — a height that her father Dragutin, himself a six-time Olympian and former European high jump champion, has been coaching her toward her entire competitive life. Her mother, three-time Olympian Biljana Topić, holds the Serbian record in the triple jump. Between the two of them, the Topić family has accumulated somewhere in the vicinity of nine Olympic Games, enough medals and national records to furnish a room, and a deep familiarity with what it takes to compete at the sport’s highest level. Angelina and is already adding to that legacy at a pace her father, who coaches every session, can only recognize.

The resume she has built to get here is already extraordinary by any measure. The World Championships bronze in Tokyo last September — sharing the bronze at 1.97m alongside Yaroslava Mahuchikh; the gold at the 2025 European U23 Championships; the silver at the 2025 European Indoor Championships; the World U20 gold in Lima in 2024; the European Championships bronze at 17 years old, where she became the youngest medalist of the entire championships. She currently ranks fourth in the world in the women’s high jump..
