Abril Okon
Happy birthday to Argentina’s Abril Okon, a heptathlete and national champion currently ranked inside the world’s top 800 in both the heptathlon and the high jump.
Abril has spent this season training and competing in the United States, running a 60m hurdles personal best of 9.09 in Albuquerque this February and a 100m hurdles best of 14.67 in May. She’s also part of a 4x400m relay squad that clocked 3:54.45 in Lubbock, Texas, back in February. Competing seriously across hurdles, jumps, and relay legs in the same season is exactly what the heptathlon demands, and doing it well enough to carry real world rankings in two different disciplines takes genuine all-around ability.
