Happy birthday to Spain’s Nerea Pérez Morales, a distance runner who splits her life between Fuerteventura and Madrid.

Nerea’s range covers the 800m through the 10km road, with a 1500m personal best of 4:36.78 set last summer in Pamplona and a 10km road best of 35:03 run on New Year’s Eve in Madrid — the kind of year-end road race that’s become its own tradition across Spain. She trains with Tenerife Caja Canarias, connecting her competitive life back to her Canary Islands roots even while training out of the capital.
