Zoe Honeybrook

Happy birthday to Australia’s Zoe Honeybrook, a Canberra middle-distance and cross country runner about to take the whole thing to the United States.

Zoe has committed to Boston College, and she goes over having spent two straight seasons moving up the national order. At the Australian Cross Country Championships she was sixth in the U18 4km at Launceston in 2024, then fourth in the U20 6km at Ballarat in 2025, moving up an age group and up the finishing order in the same step. She closed 2025 with two lifetime bests inside eight days: 9:45.96 for 3000m at Lakeside Stadium in Melbourne on 13 December, then 4:53.72 for the mile in Sydney on 20 December.

That December double says more than the times do. Both marks came at the longer end of her range, and both came off the back of a cross country season, which is usually how you can tell a middle-distance runner is quietly turning into a distance runner. She has eight ACT state titles behind her and an Australian All Schools 1500m title, and she came up through Woden Thunder in Canberra.

American collegiate racing will hand her a completely different calendar: an indoor season, an outdoor season, a cross country season that actually counts for something, and a conference full of people who want exactly what she wants. The runner who spent two winters getting stronger over grass at home is precisely the profile that travels well into that.
